Instruction for
Production of spore prints

Recommended Tools:

Aluminium foil, paper (as large that you can place 1 mushroom cap on it)
Bazillol - workspace desinfect
Latex Gloves
Facemask and hairnet
Skalpell
Cover (zb Tupperbox)
Zipp-Lock Bags to pack the prints
Glove Bag (sterile workspace)

General Procedure:

Please work clean. Spring-clean your hands and workspace and desinfect them. The usage of gloves, hairnet and facemask prevent contamination. The facemask also defense the inhaltion of spores, what may cause fit of coughing. (please desinfect the hands once again when you have put on the gloves.) We recommend to work in front of a Hepafilter or inside a glovebox / inouclationbox.

It is recommended to work clean to avoid that the spores get in contact with any contamination during print production!

Spray the aluminium foil or paper (carrier material for the spores) well with desinfect. Let it dry completely. Use fresh fruit bodies directly after harvesting! Cut the shaft close at the cap beginning. Work carefully and don´t damage the lamellae or pores.

TIP: Use the shafts for cloning!

Now you can put the caps on the carrier material. To avoid drying of the caps, we recommend to cover them with a plastic box or similar (please clean well and desinfect it bevor). Spores need 12 to 24 hours till they fall down. By reason of the charactaristic constitution the spores will adhere by their self at the carrier material.

On the next day you can move the caps away carefuly. The easiest way is to lance them with a sclapell. To avoid contamination, don´t toch the spores with your hands. Let the residual humidity escape bevor packing the prints.

Packed airproof (in zipp-lock bags) the spores are approx. 1 year germinable.
We reommend to store spore prints in a dark and clean place at room temperature.

Put the spores on a suitable nutrient medium and soon ther will germinate mycelium form them.
